Swarming Honeybees

Late spring and the onset of warm weather is the start of the honeybee swarming season. When space in a hive becomes limited, a process begins where a new colony is formed as the queen leaves with a group of worker bees. During this phase, the cluster of temporarily homeless bees is intent on setting up a new home. They may cluster together for a few days on a nearby object like a tree branch, shrub or house while scout bees look for a suitable new home . If you spot a cluster of swarming bees, notify a local beekeeper. TBabcock Honey would love to obtain a swarm of local bees. Give us a call 607-760-4252 if you have one in your area.
